I've spent 17 years in athletic training residency education: as a resident, as an educator, and for seven years as a program director who led a program through CAATE accreditation.
I ran that program on spreadsheets and inherited documents. It worked until it didn't, and every hour it cost me came out of the time I should have spent on residents.

- Cairns runs education workflows, not patient charts. Assessments, case logs, hours, and accreditation evidence are structured fields, not documents to read by hand.
- Everyone sees only what they should
- Program directors, faculty, and residents have separate views, and access is enforced on every route.
- File upload is deliberately narrow
- Only program resources, experience attachments, and faculty credential copies. Residents submit formatted text plus an optional link and cannot upload files. Files are PDF, Word, or PowerPoint up to 10 MB, stored privately, and readable only through an authenticated request scoped to your program.
Questions
Do we need to be CAATE-accredited?
No. Cairns works for accredited programs, programs in candidacy, and programs building toward it.
What happens on the call?
About 30 minutes on where your program stands and what accreditation will ask of it. You leave with a short list of priorities, whether or not you use Cairns.
How much does it cost?
The call is free. Cairns pricing depends on where your program is and how much setup support you want, and we'll walk through it on the call.
Do we have to set everything up ourselves?
No. Your first cohort, curriculum, and assessments are built with you.
Can we get our data out?
Yes. A program director can download the full program archive from settings at any time.
